Lockenhaus German Shepherds

Am. Select GCH/Can. Select CH Lockenhaus’ Rumor Has It v. Kenlyn OFA GS-90100E28F-VPI/GS-EL30022F28-VPI

Rumor was born at Kenlyn Kennels and was raised by her good friend, co-owner, co-breeder and handler, Kent Boyles. I fell in love with her at 6 months and have never looked back.

Her show career started in Kansas City with back to back 5 point majors under highly respected breeder-judges Maryellen Kish and Dr.Robert Kish. Two weeks later she again went back to back at Minn/St. Paul to finish her American Championship under Cappy Pottle and Pam O’Dell. The 2013 US National Specialty brought her a Select rating from breeder-judge Dave Rinke. Then she went to the all-breeds and finished 2014 #1 German Shepherd and #5 Herding Dog All-Breeds. Along the way in 2014 Rumor picked up her Canadian Championship and a Select rating under Jack Kilgour at the Canadian National Specialty, as well as another Best of Breed in the US under Mary Gattone.

2015 started with a bang, and ended with full out fireworks! She held the #1 titles for German Shepherd, Herding AND All-breed dogs the entire year!!  To top it all off, she won her #100th career BIS at the biggest dog show in the US, the AKC Eukanuba National Championship in Orlando in December.

We had a beautiful run at the 140th Westminster show, winning Best of Breed and the Herding Group. Seeing her compete with all the group winners brought chills.

While we were in NYC we were also honored at the Purina Pro Plan/Dogs in Review annual awards banquet where we picked up the Herding Dog of the Year award as well as #1 Show Dog of the Year and induction into the Purina Hall of Fame. Wow – how fantastic.

Rumor was supposed to retire after the 2016 Westminster, but she still wanted to show, so we pulled her out of “retirement” in January 2017 to “tune up” for Westminster one last time.  What a memory! From the Monday afternoon breed judging, to the evening Herding Group, to the Valentine’s Day Best in Show win, we were overjoyed with her performance. She never put a foot down wrong and looked like she was demanding that the judges look only at her!  She will now go down in history with this, her 104th BIS win.

Rumor is now home in Wisconsin with Kent and Liz to hopefully have some puppies for us. After that, her last journey will be home to live out her retirement with us in Ohio.

Talk about a dream come true! After 40 years of showing and breeding German Shepherd Dogs, Rumor is as close to the Standard that I believe I will ever achieve, and that is what we all strive for.   RUMOR HAS IT!!!!!
